Xbox 360 has had many problems. The "red ring of death" is the greatest, which means the Xbox 360 can no longer read discs. Even when the system seems to be running smoothly, sometimes it will sputter and freeze. Microsoft created a solution to this problem, though, and made it so you can download games directly to the hard drive. You still need the disc thereafter to play the game, but it is running from the hard drive, not the disc. Games run smoother as a result, and do not suffer the same freezing issues.

Turn on the Xbox 360.

Press "Y" to get to the game details. This will bring up the screen to install the game.

Choose the bottom option, "Install game." It will take about 10 minutes to download most games. When the download is complete, press "A" and select "Play Game."
