My Hitachi 1.51 Won't Play a Mixed Media Disc

The Hitachi 1.51 is the CD/DVD drive commonly installed in Xbox 360s. With the operating system on the Xbox you cannot play CDs and DVDs that contain multiple media formats, such as movies and audio files. To correct this you must save the various media file types on different discs. This way your Xbox 360 Hitachi 1.51 can read the information.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert the mixed media disc in your computer. Close out the AutoPlay window, then click "Start," "Computer," and double-click the CD/DVD icon. A window loads displaying all the media files saved on the disc.

    • 2

Click-and-drag the saved files from the open window onto the desktop; then eject the CD/DVD.

    • 3

Insert a blank disc into the DVD burner, and load the DVD burning software you have on the computer (typically this is Roxio, Ulead or Nero).

    • 4

Select the disc format you want to create (audio CD or video CD/DVD); then click-and-drag the media files you want to copy into the program window, making sure to add only one type of file. For example, if you're making an audio disc, copy only MP3 files. Select "Burn," and wait for the CD/DVD burner to write the disc.

    • 5

Repeat Steps 3 and 4 to copy other media formats on separate discs. When you're finished, insert one of the discs in the Xbox 360. The gaming system will now read and play the media.
