Unplug all power cables and accessories from the rear of the Xbox 360, then remove the front faceplate. Unclasp the plastic tabs on the outer case and remove it. Unscrew the Torx screws on the metal interior then slide open the metal case. Unplug the SATA cable from the DVD drive to the Xbox 360 motherboard, then connect your SATA cable from the Xbox 360 motherboard to the computer. Turn on the computer.
Open a Web browser and download an Xbox 360 modification program from the list in the References section (all programs utilize the Winhex software). Run the program and select your console from the main menu. Click "Read Winhex Hard Drive" in the main menu and select the Xbox 360 hard drive. Click "OK" and the program will decrypt the Xbox 360 hard drive so that it can be copied or edited on your computer.
Wait for the hard drive decryption to complete, then close the program. Click "Start" then "Computer" and select the Xbox 360 hard drive. Copy or edit any files you wish to save/change, then close the window and shut down the computer.
Unplug the SATA cable from the computer to the Xbox 360 motherboard then reconnect the SATA cable from the Xbox 360 motherboard to the DVD drive. Close the metal interior case and reattach the Torx screws. Replace the outer case and return the front faceplate to its original position. Reconnect any power cables and accessories before turning the console on again.
