How to Turn Off Xbox 360 Notifications During Movies While Logged in to Your Xbox Live Account

Whether you are watching a DVD on your Xbox 360 game system or are logged into Xbox Live watching a Netflix movie, you may find yourself distracted and a little annoyed at the constant "dings" and lower-screen notifications letting you know friends are logging in to their Xbox Live accounts. Most people do not want to be disturbed with Xbox Live notifications while enjoying a movie. The best way to disable these notifications is to change your system settings and preferences.

     Press the large central button on your Xbox 360 controller. This is called the "Guide" button and is the circular button that lights up on the center of your controller. Press and hold it until the Xbox menu pops up on the screen.

     Scroll to the right to select the "Settings" menu. Select "Preferences," then "Notifications."

     Uncheck "Show During Videos" box under "Show Notifications."
