How to Fix the Video Cables on an Xbox 360

The Microsoft Xbox 360 has two different methods available for hooking up to a television. One is a component video cable while the other is HDMI. If you are having trouble viewing your Xbox 360 material on a connected television system, you need to fix the cables in order to determine what exactly is causing the problem. This usually varies from improperly connected cables to a dirty connection.

Instructions

    • 1

Look over the cable connection running from the Xbox 360 to the television system. Make sure the cable is completely inserted into the connection port on both the Xbox and the television system.

    • 2

Disconnect the cable from the Xbox and TV, then spray a few shots of compressed air into the connection ports. If the port is dirty the television is unable to receive a clean connection and the video signal becomes disoriented or possibly doesn't appear on the screen at all.

Look over the entire cable for any cuts. If the rubber coating around the cable is damaged you need to cover it with a piece of electrical tape. This prevents the video signal from escaping out of the open gash.
