How to Hook Up an Xbox 360 Through an HDMI to a Receiver

If you are using an HDMI cable to connect your Xbox 360 to your television, you may be confused as to how to also hook the console to your receiver. After all, the HDMI cable only has one plug that transfers audio and video, as opposed to component cables, which have separate audio inputs. You can still experience surround sound through your receiver by using a digital audio cable, which sends the console's sound to the receiver, rather than to the TV through the HDMI cable.
