How to Fix an Xbox 360 Pro Edition that Overheated

The Xbox 360 has sold a lot of consoles due in part to features like the Xbox Live service and exclusive games, such as "Halo" and "Gears of War." The catch is, enjoying the perks of the Xbox 360 for too long can lead to the dreaded "red rings of death," which signify overheating. However, you can get your console up and running in less than an hour by using the towel trick.

Remove the controllers, memory cards, A/V connections, and Ethernet cable from their inputs on the console. Press the button at the top of the console to eject the hard drive and remove it. The power will be the only connection into the Xbox.

Power on the console, and wrap the Xbox in the first towel from top to bottom. Completely cover the console with a second and third towel. Leave the Xbox powered on in the towels for 20 to 25 minutes.
