How to Use a Media Center Remote With the Xbox Too

With the Xbox 360 Universal Remote controller you can access the Windows Media Center application on your television using your Xbox 360 video game console. The Windows Media Center is set up on your home computer, and with your Xbox 360 Universal Remote you can view all of the media content from your computer, including music, videos, pictures and more. It's important to make sure the Xbox 360 console is configured with the Windows Media Center using the Media Center remote.

Instructions

      Turn on your TV and then point your Xbox 360 Universal Remote at your TV screen. Press and hold down the "TV" and "OK" buttons at the same time for two seconds.

      Press the "CH+" button to send a series of commands and then continue to press the "CH+" button until the power turns off.

      Press the "TV" button again to save your changes, and all of the buttons on the remote will blink three times.

      Press the "A," "B," "X" or "Y" buttons to control your Xbox 360 like you would a normal Xbox 360 controller.

      Press the "Windows Media Center Start" button to access the Windows Media Center main menu from your computer on your Xbox 360.

      Press the "Xbox Guide" button and then select the "Settings" option. Click the "System Settings" option and then click the "Console Settings" option.

      Click the "Remote Control" option and then click the "Both Remotes" option. Exit out of the Xbox dashboard.
