How to Unlock Nameplates in Halo Reach

When you connect to a multiplayer game in Bungie's "Halo: Reach" game, some players' names appear on special backgrounds that bear icons. You can unlock and use these "nameplates" yourself by completing secret objectives of the "Halo" series while logged in to your gamer tag. Though the nameplates give no special powers or achievements in the game, you can collect them all to show off your love for "Halo."

Instructions

    • 1

Play online games of "Halo 2," "Halo 3" and "Halo: ODST" to unlock nameplates with their respective logos. The servers for "Halo 2" no longer exist, so you can't earn this nameplate if you haven't already played the game online.

    • 2

Register a PC copy of the original "Halo" to earn the nameplate with its logo. You cannot use an Xbox copy of "Halo" to get this nameplate.

    • 3

Log in to Bungie's website with your gamer tag to unlock the Septagon nameplate. Register for the Bungie Pro hosting service from their site to unlock the DMR nameplate. This service incurs a fee for the ability to host additional game videos and pictures online.

    • 4

Play a game of Bungie's classic game "Marathon 2: Durandal" purchased from the Xbox Live Arcade store to unlock the marathon logo nameplate. You must use the paid version of the game to unlock this nameplate, not the free demo.

    • 5

Earn the "Halo," "Halo 2" and "Halo 3" nameplates in order to unlock the Halo emblem nameplate. Earn the "Halo: ODST" nameplate in addition to these three to unlock the Spartan helmet nameplate. If you played in the "Halo: Reach" beta test to earn the assault rifle nameplate, you can substitute this for one of the other required nameplates.
