Things You'll Need
Instructions
Disassemble the Xbox controller with a Torx security screwdriver or Phillips head screwdriver. Controllers with wires have Torx screws, while wireless controllers have Phillips head screws. When the screws are removed, the controller will come apart in halves.
Remove the buttons and electronics from the controller case and set them out of the way in a safe place.
Put on a pair of latex gloves.
Place the controller case halves on a piece of cardboard with the outside of the shell facing up. Make sure the area is well ventilated.
Hold the vinyl dye spray can 1 1/2 feet away from the controller case. Spray the case lightly with the vinyl dye using quick passes. Do not worry about the dye running or the plastic being completely covered.
Wait five minutes.
Coat the case again. Apply the dye in the same manner, continuing to make passes with the can until all of the plastic is covered.
Wait 10 minutes.
Make a final inspection. Touch up areas that need it.
Wait 30 minutes.
Place the buttons and electronics back in the controller shell. Reassemble the controller with a screwdriver.
