Reset Display Settings
Eject your game disc from your Xbox 360 and turn off the console.
Hold down the "Guide" button on your controller to turn the console back on.
Press and hold the "Y" and "RT" buttons simultaneously. Continue holding both buttons until you the console restarts. This resets your Xbox 360's display settings to the default.
Component Cable Connection for High Definition Televisions
Turn off your Xbox 360.
Locate the switch on the component connector. Set the switch to the "HDTV" mode.
Verify the component cable connection on your television. Ensure the red, green and blue connectors are correctly connected to the corresponding input jacks on the back of the television.
Ensure the yellow cable is not connected. The yellow cable is a separate signal called "composite" and is only for standard televisions.
Turn on the Xbox 360 and go to "System Settings" on the dashboard.
Select "Console Settings" and then select "Display."
Select "Screen Resolution" and press the "A" button. This displays a list of available screen resolutions.
Choose the highest resolution your television supports and press the "A" button. Refer to your television manual if unsure.
Select "Reference levels" and press the "A" button.
Select each of the three reference levels one at a time to find the one that provides the best color reproduction on your television.
Component Cable Connection for Standard Definition Televisions
Turn off the Xbox 360.
Locate the switch on the component connector. Set the switch to the "TV" mode.
Verify the component cable connection on your television. Ensure the yellow cable is connected to the corresponding port on the back of your television. The red, blue and green video connectors should not be used.
Turn on the Xbox 360 and go to "System Settings" on the dashboard.
Select "Console Settings" and then select "Display."
Select "Screen Format" and press the "A" button.
Choose "Normal" and press the "A" button.
Select "Black Level" and press the "A" button.
Select each of the three black levels one at a time and choose the one that provides the best color reproduction on your screen.
