How to Install Original Xbox Games on Xbox 360

Depending on which version of the Xbox 360 you own, your machine has the ability to play select classics from the original Xbox's game library. Games like "Halo," that you previously only enjoyed on the original Xbox console do not have to be lost in time if you don't want them to be. These games must be set up on your newer console in a very specific way in order to be played successfully. Namely, you have to update your console's operating system software.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your Xbox 360. After a few seconds the machine will power up and the main menu will load. Open the "My Xbox" menu option.

    • 2

Select "System Settings." Scan through the options in this window until you find and select "Network Settings."

    • 3

Specify the way your Xbox 360 is connected to the Internet. If you are using a wired network, select "Wired Network." If you are using a wireless network, choose the name of your wireless network from the list on screen.

    • 4

Select the "Test Xbox Live Connection" option. After you do this, you will be prompted to update your Xbox 360's operating software. Select "Yes." The update will be downloaded and installed.

    • 5

Insert your Xbox game disc into your Xbox 360. The necessary software will install on your machine and the game will load the same way it would if you were playing on an original model Xbox.
