My Nyko Intercooler for the Xbox 360 Makes a Screeching Noise

The Nyko Intercooler is a device that attaches to the back of the Xbox 360 and uses three fans to suck hot air out of the machine. This prevents overheating, which can melt the solder connections in your Xbox and cause it to crash. However, when the intercooler gets dusty or dirty, the fans won't spin as smoothly and have a tendency to screech and grind.

Instructions

    • 1

Power the intercooler off and remove the power cord.

    • 2

Remove the intercooler from the Xbox 360 console.

    • 3

Flip the intercooler over so that its input fans (the side that comes into contact with the console) are facing you.

    • 4

Blow out any dust with the can of compressed air. Use an air straw to reach tiny crevices.

    • 5

Reattach the intercooler to the Xbox 360 console and plug it back in. It should be much quieter once powered on. If not, you will need to contact Nyko customer support as the screeching may be a manufacturing issue.
