How to Remove the X-clamps from an Xbox

Microsoft has sold millions of its second-generation Xbox 360 gaming consoles to gamers around the world. Overall, the console is well-built and reliable; nevertheless, the Xbox 360 is not without its problems. One frequently reported problem with the Xbox 360 is its tendency to overheat. The Xbox 360's signature "X-clamp" heatsinks are striking in appearance; however, they may become loose over time. When this happens, the microchips underneath the clamps may overheat and cause system malfunctions. In most cases, you can correct the problem simply by removing the X-clamps and applying some thermal compound.
