Verify that the Xbox is receiving power by checking the connection between the console and the power outlet.
Try connecting the system to a different power outlet.
Confirm that the Xbox is connected to your TV with the appropriate AV or HDMI cable.
Select the correct video input on the TV. Press the "Source" or "Input" button on the set's remote control until the game system content appears on the screen.
Try turning on the console using all three possible ways. Press the console button, the eject button and the Xbox Guide button -- the round one in the center of the controller -- to determine if a specific button is faulty.
Check that the console's power button glows solid green. A flashing red light indicates that the console is too hot and cannot be used until it cools. A solid red light accompanies on-screen instructions; follow them to solve the problem.
