How to Customize the Tracks for Your Songs on Rock Band 2 for the XBox 360

Uploading custom music to "Rock Band" involves using the "Rock Band" Creators service, which allows you to create and upload music not only for your personal use, but to be downloaded by other "Rock Band" players as well. In order to use the "Rock Band" Creators service, you must have an Xbox Live membership, an XNA Creator's Club membership, and a Windows Live account. This service is designed less for hobby use, and more for bands to make their music available to "Rock Band" players.

Instructions

    • 1

Sign up for an XNA Creator's Club membership. If you do not already have an Xbox Live account and a Windows Live account, you must sign up for those as well. If you have a Hotmail account, you will have a Windows Live account. Make sure you're signed into the same account that's connected to your Xbox Live account when signing up for the Creator's Club--the two memberships will be linked.

    • 2

Register for Rock Band Creators Club. This can be done at the Rock Band Creators website.

    • 3

Download the tools designed to help you create your music on Rock Band; you will need the programs Reaper and Magma. Reaper is for designing and creating the music, while Magma lets you create the "Rock Band" package for the song, setup and game play.

    • 4

Create your song in Reaper, and put together the whole "Rock Band" package in Magma. Before undertaking this process, make sure the song you're creating is one you have created and own the rights to; "Rock Band" does not take cover songs over the creators system.

    • 5

Audition your game in "Rock Band" to test it at home and make sure the game play, audio and visuals all come together to create an experience that is both enjoyable to listen to and fun to play.

    • 6

Submit your song for play testing. During play testing the "Rock Band" community will play your song and report any errors or issues that come up during game play. The majority of issues are resolved during the play test phase.

    • 7

Submit your song for peer review; this is the final review process before your game is submitted to the "Rock Band" store. At this point issues that tend to keep a song out of "Rock Band" include not meeting authoring standards of the Creator's Club or including content that is prohibited by "Rock Band" standards.
