How to Stream Music to My Xbox 360

The Xbox 360 supports media sharing and can be connected to other devices that include the media sharing feature. Media sharing can be used to stream music from your computer directly to the Xbox. The Xbox must be connected to your home network, either wired or wireless, and on the same network as the computer you plan to stream music from.

Windows Media Player 11 or 12

  Open Windows Media Player. If you're using Windows Media Player 11, click "Stream" and click "Turn on Media Streaming." Click "Turn on media sharing." Click "Show devices on to All Networks" and select "Xbox 360." If you're using Windows Media Player 12, click "Library" and click "Media Sharing." Set the Share My Media option to "Xbox 360" and click "Allow."

  Scroll to the "My Xbox" tab on the Xbox dashboard. Select "Music Library." A list of networked/connected devices will be displayed.

  Select the name of your computer. Highlight the name of the song you want to stream and press the "A" button to begin playing the song.
