How to Hook an Xbox 360 HDD to a PC

The Xbox 360 is distributed by Microsoft and is the successor to the Xbox. Its competitors include the Sony PlayStation 3 and the Nintendo Wii. Saving games and game data through the Xbox 360's hard drive on the PC in order to free up storage used to be considered impossible. In 2010, Microsoft released the Xbox 360 with an internal hard drive and support for USB drivers, which gave it the capability to connect to a PC.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the Xbox 360 and disconnect all power cables. Locate the Xbox 360 HDD near the disc tray. Press the "Eject" button on flat side of the hard drive to release it and hold the button down. Remove the hard drive from its opening and its USB cable connection by pulling it out of the Xbox 360 console.

    • 2

Insert the Xbox 360 HDD USB cable into the PC's USB port.

    • 3

Turn on the PC. Wait for it to recognize the Xbox 360 HDD. Click "Start," "Computer" and locate the Xbox 360 HDD icon. Click "Show Files" when the computer recognizes the device connection.
