How to Reset an Xbox Console

The Xbox 360 is a video game device made by Microsoft that connects to your TV. Use it to play games by yourself or with multiple players, as well as go online with Xbox Live to play with people around the world over the Internet. It also plays music and videos. If your Xbox console experiences a problem, such as the image on the display not appearing clearly, you might want to reset the console.

  Press the "Eject" button on the Xbox console if there is a disc in it, and remove the disc.

  Press the "Power" button on the Xbox console to turn it off.

  Press the "Guide" button in the middle of the controller, which is marked with an "X," and hold it until the console turns back on. Use the "Player One" controller if you have more than one controller connected to the console. You can identify the "Player One" controller by its "Guide" button, whose upper-left side is lit up.

  Press the "Y" button on the controller and hold it while the console starts up, and simultaneously pull the right trigger. The Xbox 360 logo will appear on the screen. Continue to hold the buttons down. The console will then restart, and the logo will appear once more. The console is now reset to the default factory settings.
