How to Change the Background on Your Xbox's Friends List

Your Xbox 360 lets you play the latest video games, listen to music, watch streaming video and connect with friends. The Xbox 360 uses a friends list to keep track of your friends. This allows you to see which of your friends are online and what game they are playing. To change the background of the friends list, you must change your Xbox 360's theme. Themes apply different colors and pictures to your system's menus. Several themes are included with your system, and others can be purchased from the Xbox Live Marketplace.

  Hold down the "Guide" button on your Xbox 360 controller to turn the system on. Sign in to your Xbox Live profile.

  Navigate to the "My Xbox" menu and highlight your avatar, then press "A."

  Highlight "Change Theme" and press "A." Scroll through the list of themes, then press "A" to choose one. This changes the images and colors that appear in the background of your friends list.

  Change the theme, if you are using an earlier version of the Xbox Dashboard, by pressing the controller's "Guide" button. Select "Settings," "Profile" and "Change Theme," then choose your new theme.
