How to Get Halo 3 Videos on Your PC

With the right hardware, you can record your "Halo 3" game as you play. This gives you the ability to create video tutorials, fan movies or even just to show off your most triumphant moments. Though some players use capture cards (a hardware component that must be installed within the Xbox itself), the easier method is to hook up a video capture device (examples include Dazzle DVD Recorder, Studio MovieBox and EzCAP116 USB 2.0) . In order to properly capture "Halo 3," you will need a video capture device capable of recording at least 60 Hz.

Things You'll Need

  • 2 triple RCA cables (male on both ends)
  • 3 RCA male to twin RCA female adapters
  • Video capture device

Your video capture device should have a built-in USB cable.

Connect the USB cable on the video capture device to a free port on your PC. Insert the CD-ROM that was included with the capture device. Follow the onscreen prompts to install the device interface software. You may need to restart your computer.

Color-coded RCA cables will make setup much easier.

Plug one end of the first RCA cable into the video capture device. Connect one RCA adapter to each plug on the other end of the cable.

The RCA sockets may be on either the front or back of your TV.

Plug the three RCA adapters into the corresponding sockets on the TV. You will need to match the color of the cable plug to the color of the socket.

Connect one end of the second RCA cable to the remaining socket of each of the three adapters. Plug the other end into the corresponding sockets on the Xbox.

Launch the recording device software on your TV. Turn on the Xbox. Turn on the TV. If all is connected properly, you should see the image that is displayed on your TV also displayed within the software window on your computer. Load "Halo 3" from your Xbox menu. Click the "Record" button on the software window once you are ready to begin recording your gameplay.
