How to Get Wireless Information for the Xbox 360

One of the most appealing features of Microsoft's Xbox 360 is Xbox Live. You can use Xbox Live to play games online, download game content and watch videos. You need an Internet connection to use Xbox Live, and although only the new "Slim" Xbox 360 consoles include built-in wireless adapters, you can also buy external adapters for the old version consoles. On both versions of the Xbox 360, you can view your console's wireless connection status and get other wireless information such as your console's IP address.

  Make sure your wireless network is turned on and connected to the Internet.

  Connect your wireless adapter to your Xbox 360 if necessary, and turn on your Xbox 360 console.

  Navigate up or down on your console's home screen to the section called "My Xbox." In this section, scroll across to the panel called "System Settings," and press "A" to select it.

  Scroll down to the "Network Settings" option and select it with the "A" button.

  Consult the bottom of this screen to see your Xbox 360's wireless connection status information, such as whether it is connected to the network and connected to the Internet.

  Select "Configure Network" on this screen to view your console's IP address. You might need this to identify your Xbox 360 on your wireless home network.
