Wireless XBox 360 Guitar Doesn't Connect

In order to play either the lead guitar or bass guitar parts in a "Guitar Hero" or "Rock Band" game for your Xbox 360, your wireless guitar-shaped controller needs to be connected to your console. Typically this takes place with the pressing of just a few buttons. However, if something goes wrong and your guitar controller isn't connecting, you may need to adjust your settings or check the status of the controller itself.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn your wireless Xbox 360 guitar "On." Because the wireless guitar uses regular alkaline batteries, you have the ability to turn it completely off in order to save battery capacity. Your guitar controller will not sync to the console when in the "Off" power status. Turn on your controller and attempt to sync it again.

Press both "Sync" buttons. Just like a regular wireless XBox 360 gaming controller, you must press the sync button on the front of your Xbox 360 and the sync button on the controller itself in order to connect one device to the other.

    • 3

Do not attempt to connect more than two guitar-shaped controllers. All versions of "Guitar Hero" and "Rock Band" (the two games that support guitar-shaped controllers) will not register more than two guitars at any given time. This is because each song for both games only has two guitar parts--lead guitar and bass guitar. The other two parts of the four-player game are lead vocals and drums.
