Play any of the multiplayer modes and get as many kills as possible. Each kill will reward you with experience points. Sites like COD4 Central have charts that can be consulted to see exactly how many experience points you need to level up to the next rank (see Resources) Play the "Search &Destroy" mode to get 50 experience points for each kill and 100 experience points every time you plant a bomb. Continue until you reach Level 9 and unlock the "Boot camp Challenges."
Play the "Boot Camp Challenges". These are the first set of challenges that you unlock and will grant you between 50 and 250 experience points upon their completion. You will receive the requirements of the challenge before the mission and you can select whatever one you feel is easy enough to do quickly. Sites like MyCheats (see Resources) have lists with the boot camp challenges and how to complete them. You will unlock new boot camp challenges until you reach Level 18. Finishing all of the challenges will take you to Level 21, which will unlock the "operations challenges."
Complete all the "operations challenges," followed by "killer challenges" and "humiliation challenges." Doing so will unlock the "Elite challenges" and rank you up fast along the way.
