How to Get Music From Your Xbox to a CD

With your Xbox 360 console, you have the ability to copy and move data to and from the system's built-in storage. If you previously transferred music files to your Xbox 360, you can retrieve them from the console using a USB flash drive. Then, you can load them back on your computer and burn them to discs.

Things You'll Need

  • 1-16GB USB flash drive compatible with FAT32 formatting
  • Computer with CD burner
  • Writable CD-R or CD-RW

Instructions

      Connect your flash drive to one of the Xbox 360's USB ports. Go to "My Xbox," press "System Settings," select "Memory," then "USB Storage Device," "Configure Now," and finally, "Yes."

      Go back to "System Settings," choose "Memory," select the storage drive containing the music files, and press "Music." Then, one at a time, select the music files you want, press "Copy," and choose your flash drive as the destination.

      Remove the flash drive from your Xbox 360 console, and insert it into a USB port on your computer. When the computer has recognized the device, go to the Start menu, click "Computer," and then double-click on your flash drive.

      Insert the writable CD-R or CD-RW into your CD burner drive, open the Windows Media Player program from the Start menu, and click on the "Burn" tab. Drag and drop music files from your flash drive to the burn list, and then click "Start Burn" or "Copy Music" (depending on your Windows Media Player version) to copy the music to your CD.
