Networking
Power on your Xbox 360 then navigate to the "System Settings" section and select it. Choose "Network Settings" the "Configure Network."
Select "Wireless Mode" or "Wired Mode" under the "Basic Settings" tab. A wired network should automatically configure. If using a wireless network select "Scan for Networks." Select your home network from the list. Enter your security code when prompted.
Select "Test Xbox LIVE Connection" to ensure the the settings are correct. Additionally, you can choose "Test PC Connection" and "Test Windows Media Center" to locate the problem with your set-up. If your Xbox LIVE connection doesn't work, check the Internet connection from your PC. If your Internet is not working, contact your Internet service provider (ISP) for more support. If your Internet connection is working and you still can't connect to Xbox LIVE, check to make sure your ISP and wireless routers are compatible (see Resources).
Software
Download Windows Media Player 11 (or later, see Resources). Double-click on the file you downloaded to install Windows Media Player. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
Open Windows Media Player then click on the arrow next to the tab labeled "Library" and click on "Media Sharing." Check the box by "Share My Media To" and then select the icon for your Xbox 360 from the list. You will need to power on your Xbox 360 if it isn't already on. Click "Allow" then click "OK."
Open the "Media" section on your Xbox 360 then select "Music, Pictures, or Videos." Choose the icon for your computer from the list on the network. Select the item you wish to play.
