Charge your headset's battery. Depending on the type of headset you have purchased, it will either have a charging cable that you need to plug into a wall outlet or a charging cradle that you need to physically set the headset down on top of. Charge your headset's battery and then attempt to use it again.
Verify that the headset is not muted. Certain Xbox headsets have a mute button on the headset itself. Likewise, you can mute the headset by pressing the assigned button on your controller. Verify that the headset is not muted in any way and then attempt to use your headset again to see if that doesn't correct the problem.
Use your Xbox wireless headset in rooms that do not contain devices like walkie-talkies, cell phones, cordless landline phones and wireless network routers. All of these devices have the potential to interfere with the wireless connection being established between your headset and the Xbox, which could cause the sound to drop out on your headset or can cause the Xbox to fail to recognize the existence of the headset altogether.
