How to Configure an XBox Wireless Adapter to a Wireless Connection

The Xbox wireless adapter allows you to connect the Xbox 360 to Xbox Live via a wireless Internet connection. Xbox Live is the official online matchmaking and content distribution service for the Xbox. Although not generally as fast or reliable as a wired connection, the wireless adapter performs best the closer it is to your wireless router. Other wireless peripherals and obstructions will affect the performance of the connection.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the Xbox. Remove the plastic tabs on the back of the Xbox near the Ethernet and USB ports. Insert the USB cable from the wireless adapter into the USB port.

    • 2

Connect the wireless adapter into the open tabs and place the antennas into the upward position.

    • 3

Turn on the Xbox. Scroll to the "My Xbox" tab. Select "System Settings." Select "Network Settings."

    • 4

Select "Configure Network." Select "Scan for Networks." Select the name of your wireless network and, if any, use the on screen key to enter the wireless password. Press the "B" button to return to the "Configure Network" menu.

    • 5

Select "Test Xbox Live Connection." The Xbox will test the connection. If the test is successful, you can connect to Xbox Live. If the test is unsuccessful, the problem and most likely solution will be displayed on screen.
