How to Set Up an Xbox Controller on Vista

The Xbox 360 is an entertainment console on which individuals can play games, watch movies and listen to music, as well as perform several other activities. Interactions between a person and the console are performed via a controller, which connects to the console with a USB cable. Some players find this controller to be very comfortable and might wish to use it to play games on their Windows Vista computer. This is made possible through the download and installation of a driver.

  Click the drop-down menu under "Select type of product" and choose the "Controller" option.

  Select the "Select your product" menu and choose the "Xbox 360 controller for Windows" option.

  Click the menu under "Select your operating system" and choose the "Windows Vista" option that applies to your computer.

  Select your operating system language, then click the "Go" button.

  Click the "Xbox 360 Accessories Software" link at the center of the screen, then save the file to your computer.

  Double-click the downloaded file and follow the prompts to complete the installation.

  Connect the Xbox controller to a USB port on your computer.

  Press and hold the Xbox guide button in the center of the controller until it lights up. Launch a game to begin using the Xbox controller.
