How to Tell If My XBox Has the Jasper Drive

There are several major versions of the Xbox 360 console, each one identifiable by various tells. Jasper and Falcon are two of these major versions, Jasper being the latest as of late 2010, with several updated components, and Falcon being the previous model. If you are in the market for a new Xbox 360 and want the newer Jasper model, there is a convenient way to tell the difference between the two versions while you're still in the store.

  Take the Xbox 360 box and survey every side until you find the rectangular cut-out portion. Underneath the cut-out you will see the Xbox 360 model number, barcode and other numbers.

  Find the voltage/amperage information. This should be at the lower-left portion of the cut-out right above the "MADE IN..." label.

  Determine which version the Xbox 360 is. If the information shows as "12V...12.1A : 5V...1A," you are looking at an Xbox 360 with the Jasper version. If the information shows as "12V...14.2A : 5V...1A," you have a Falcon version.
