Instructions
Turn on your Xbox and your television to see if the console is working. If a picture appears on the television, proceed to the next step. If not, your Xbox should be sent to Microsoft for repair.
Press the eject button while the console is still on. If the tray still does not open, turn off the Xbox and unplug it from all wires.
Position your console horizontally on a flat surface.
Hold down the top of the console with one hand. Then with moderate force, pry the faceplate off with the other hand.
Straighten a paperclip.
Look for a small hole directly below the CD tray on the right side. It is about the same diameter as a paperclip. If there is no hole there, locate the first small hole to the left beneath the tray.
Insert the paperclip about one inch into the hole. You will feel a gear. Push the paperclip against the gear to partially open the tray. If this does not work, try the adjacent hole and try again until the tray opens slightly.
Grasp the tray with your fingertips and pull it open. Remove the DVD.
Reconnect your Xbox and close the tray. Press the eject button. If it does not open, contact Microsoft or your retailer to have your Xbox serviced.
