How to Check the DVD Drive in an Xbox 360

If you are going to sell or give away your Xbox 360, it may be useful to check the DVD drive before you do so. The easiest way to check the DVD drive is to test the most typical types of disc in the drive and see if they work. Make sure that these discs have no scratches on them and that they work in other devices.

      Insert an Xbox 360 game into your Xbox 360 drive. Wait a few moments and the game should automatically start. Eject it if it does.

      Insert a movie DVD into the Xbox drive. Wait a few moments and the DVD software should open.

      Insert an audio CD into the Xbox drive. It should automatically begin playing the audio files.

      Repeat any test if it does not work; if another type of disc fails, then you know your drive is faulty.
