Things You'll Need
Instructions
Examine the controller for damage. A broken controller can interfere with the charging process. Check for breaks in the plastic housing. Test all of the buttons to see if they work correctly. If there are any problems with the plastic housing or buttons not working, contact Xbox support.
Press the oval button at the top of the controller to detach the battery. A dropped controller can unseat the rechargeable battery. Examine the battery for any dirt or matter that could interfere with a good connection to the controller. Use the paper towel to gently clean the battery and the controller. Gently clean the golden connectors on the battery and controller with a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol and let them dry for a few minutes.
Examine the power cord connection on the top of the controller. Check for any chips or loose plastic parts that may have fallen into the controller. Gently shake the controller and listen for any loose parts. If the controller rattles, contact Microsoft's Xbox support for further instructions. If not, reattach the battery and plug in recharging cable. If the problem persists, contact Xbox support for further instructions regarding replacement options.
