Instructions
Install two AA batteries in the Xbox 360 remote by taking off the battery cover, inserting them as indicated by the labels, and then replacing the battery cover.
Set up your Xbox 360 remote with your TV. Consult the included manual for the code that matches your specific TV brand, press the "TV and "OK" buttons on the remote for two seconds simultaneously, enter the code using the remote's number pad and press the "TV" button to save the setting.
Use the Xbox 360 remote with your Xbox 360. On the remote are the five main buttons that are also on every Xbox 360 controller; the A, B, X, Y, and Guide buttons. These buttons function exactly as the buttons on your controller. To open the Windows Media Center program on your Xbox 360, press "Windows Media Center Start." If this is the first time you've opened it the setup wizard will initialize, prompting you to set it up with the Windows Media Center software on your computer.
Follow the prompts to configure your computer for use with the remote control (only applicable if your operating system is Windows XP Media Center Edition or newer). Once the setup wizard is finished, press "Windows Media Center Start" to open the program on your computer and Xbox 360 at the same time, and then use the "arrow/OK" buttons to select media for playback.
