How to Use an Xbox Controller on Your Computer

  Go to the "Download Controller Compatibility Software" link in References.

  Use the drop-down menu to select either a wireless or wired Xbox 360 controller. Also choose your operating system.

  Click "Go." Your download appears on the next page.

  Click the download link.

  Save the file to your desktop. This is the software installation file, so you can delete it after you complete the installation.

  Run the file.

  Accept the software's terms of use agreement and click "Next" to start the installation.

  Restart your PC. If you have a wired controller, plug it into a USB port and begin playing games on your Windows computer. If you have a wireless controller you must set up the Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows.

Set Up the Wireless Gaming Receiver

  Install the receiver's software to your computer. The software installation disc comes included with the receiver.

  Plug the receiver's input into a USB port on the computer. The receiver turns on.

  Power on your wireless controller.

  Push the receiver's wireless button.

  Press the controller's wireless button. The two devices automatically connect.
