How to Make an Xbox 360 Play Sound in a Headset & Not the TV

Xbox Live, an online multiplayer gaming service for Xbox 360, allows you to communicate with others using headsets. You can configure your headset in a number of ways for optimal playback. For instance, if you want others in the room to hear your friends' chatter, you can set the voice output to play through your headset and TV's speakers. This can, however, be an annoyance to others not interested in your game. If that is the case, you can configure your Xbox Live voice settings to have the sound come through your headset only.

     Scroll right until you reach the "Settings" blade.

     Select "Preferences."

     Choose "Voice."

     Select "Headset only."
