How to Make Your Own 360 Faceplate

True Xbox 360 enthusiasts may want to customize their Xbox faceplate. The easiest way to customize your faceplate is by purchasing a clear faceplate--such as those produced by MadCatz and Nyko GameFace 360--and customizing the template that goes inside the clear plate. Such plates often come with computer software that you can use to create the custom template of your dreams. You can combine characters from your top three Xbox games, or paint or sticker a plain faceplate with colors and elements of your choice.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase a clear face plate or a plain silver faceplate online or from your local game retailer. You can try stores like Best Buy and Game Stop for a decent selection of faceplates. However, your biggest selection usually appears online.

    • 2

Remove the current faceplate from your Xbox 360. Close the disc holder, and remove memory units. Make sure the console is turned off. On the right end, push the faceplate away from the gaming console with your thumbs. Microsoft offers a diagram that shows you exactly where to place your thumbs.

Customize the template for your faceplate. If you are using a software program that came with a clear faceplate, then you will need to use your computer to create your new template. If you plan to draw by hand, then use markers, colored pencils or paint. Another option is to paint or sticker a silver faceplate to look the way you want. Allow any wet surfaces dry completely. If using a clear faceplate, insert the completed template into the back of the case.

Replace the faceplate by aligning the tabs on the back of the faceplate with the slots on the Xbox 360 console. Push until the cover snaps into place and lays flush against the gaming system.
