What Are Call of Duty 4 Tournament MLG Rules?

In addition to selling over 64 million copies worldwide, Activision-Blizzard's "Call of Duty" games have become a mainstay on the professional gaming circuit. The most recent title to have an official Major League Gaming tournament is "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare," released in September 2008. Rules for tournament gameplay determine which weapons and tactics can be used, and also ban certain locations and the exploit of known bugs.
  1. Banned Weapons

    • Weapons banned from MLG "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" tournaments include most explosives. Grenade launchers, C4, claymore mines and the frag x3 perk are also all banned from tournament gameplay. Players caught using these weapons are in violation of the rules, and both the player and his team will be subjected to punishment.

    Banned Exploits and Tactics

    • Like most games, "Call of Duty 4" has a few issues in its programming that players may at times use to their advantage. MLG tournament rules ban the use of such exploits in general, as well as on specific maps. The rules prohibit going outside of the normal boundaries of the map, going into the tunnel wall on Pipeline, going to the top of the arch on District, going onto invisible ledges, and jumping off of other characters. Additionally, players are not allowed to remove players on the other team from the match once a game has begun.

    Punishment

    • Breaking any of these rules, be it a weapons or movement violation, results in the same punishment: forfeiture of the game. Any player caught using one of these banned tactics will automatically force their team to take the loss.
