Media Type
The built-in DVD-ROM drive on the Xbox 360 Elite allows users to play all disc-based Xbox 360 games as well as DVD movies.
Central Processing Unit
In computer science, the smallest unit of processing that an operating system can schedule is referred to as a thread. The Xbox 360 Elite features an IBM PowerPC 3 cores 3.2-gigahertz processor, with each of the PowerPC cores capable of processing two threads at over 3 GHz.
Memory
Random-access memory, or RAM, is a form of data storage that allows information to be accessed and returned in any order regardless of its physical location on the computer. Basically, the more RAM a computer has, the more functions it can perform without slowing down. The Xbox 360 Elite has 512 megabytes of integrated GDDR3 SDRAM along with 1MB of cache memory that helps to reduce memory access time.
Hard Drive
The Xbox 360 Elite features a 120GB hard drive that is used to store profile information, game saves, demos and all downloadable content from the Xbox Live marketplace. Because the hard drive sits on the outside of the console, it can easily be detached and placed on another Xbox 360 system without any installation required.
Graphics Processor
A custom ATI graphics processor gives the Xbox 360 Elite a polygon performance of 500 million triangles per second and a maximum external resolution of 1920 by 1080. All Xbox 360 games can be played in either standard or high definition with support for 16:9, 720p and 1080i formats.
Audio Capability
With over 256 audio channels and 320 independent decompression channels, the Xbox 360 Elite is capable of supporting 16-bit multichannel surround sound.
Connection Types
Available ports on the Xbox 360 Elite include one AV cable port, one HDMI port, one Ethernet cable port, three USB 2.0 ports and two memory card ports.
Input Device
The Xbox 360 Elite comes with one wireless controller; however, wired controllers can also be connected to any of the available USB 2.0 ports.
