Top 10 Realistic Car Games for the Xbox 360

There are many racing genre games, aka driving/car games, on Microsoft's Xbox 360. Some racing games incorporate what is known as a "free-roam" style of play, but because the games revolve around cars, gamers can plan on racing at some point during the games. Factors that go into a racing game being "Top 10" include how realistic the graphics are, its handling/controls, lasting playability and its overall rating. The overall rating is averaged between critics' ratings and gamers' ratings.
  1. Forza Motorsport 3

    • "Forza Motorsport 3" was rated at "9.4/10" by IGN and was released in 2009. IGN praises the graphics of the car models and the handling/driving of the cars.

    Need For Speed Shift

    • "Need for Speed Shift" was rated at "8/10" in 2009 by Game Informer. Game Informer called the graphics "realistic" yet periodically "blurry."

    Forza Motorsport 2

    • "Forza Motorsport 2" from 2007 was rated at "8.9/10" by IGN. While it's onsidered a realistic enough game, its graphics and handling ability were not as sharp as those of "Forza 3." According to IGN, the graphics needed more of a makeover than the car physics.

    Burnout Revenge

    • "Burnout Revenge" was rated at "8.5/10" by OXM Online and was released in 2006. OXM Online says the graphics have a "clean look" and the game is a step toward "next-generation" racing games.

    Project Gotham Racing 3

    • "Project Gotham Racing 3" from 2005 got a "9/10" rating from OXM Online. OXM Online calls the graphics "eye popping" and praised its career mode.

    Burnout Paradise

    • "Burnout Paradise" from 2008 was rated at "8.8/10" by IGN. IGN contends the crash graphics are so good that it makes the gamer want "to crash their car on purpose." IGN also added that the cars handle well even at high-speeds.

    Grid

    • "Grid" from 2008 received a rating of "8.7/10" by IGN. From lighting to rendering, IGN said the graphics in "Grid" are "top-notch." IGN also adds that the crashes are "spectacular."

    Midnight Club: Los Angeles

    • "Midnight Club: Los Angeles" got a "9/10" rating from Game Informer and is published by Rckstar Games. As with most games from this publisher, it's a "free-roam" style racing game. The game difficulty is hard but the cars handle very well, according to Game Informer.

    FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage

    • "FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage" was rated "8.5/10" by IGN. The IGN report said the 2007 title has extra playability due to the variety of match types in campaign mode, but its load times are longer than average.

    Split/Second

    • "Split/Second" from 2010 received a rating of "8.25/10" from Game Informer. "Split/Second" races include various explosions the player can trigger to knock an opponent out. The color palette also made the environment graphics stand out according to Game Informer.
