Check for impossibilities. If you notice things in "Halo" that cannot happen, like players or certain vehicles flying, there is definitely a cheat device at work.
Find out if a player is not dying. There are instances when players are very good and they do not die once during a match. But if you have attacked a player consistently during a match and she has not died one time, there is a possibility a "God Mode" cheat is in use.
Judge the game's playing speed. If you are using a slow Internet connection, this will be difficult to judge. If you notice that with matches the rounds are much slower than they usually are, and the match continues to crash, it is possible someone is cheating. This possibly involves illegal strategies that boost characters' rank through cheating.
See whether the game freezes. A cheating strategy referred to as "Standby" occurs when someone interrupts his Internet connection very briefly. This causes every character in the game, except for that of the person who initiated the interruption, to stop moving. That person is then able to go and cause damage to the other players. If the game freezes and there is no one moving and everything is still the same after the freeze is over, it may not have been done on purpose.
Look for the players who have "trusted zone" or "blocked zone" somewhere in their name. This strategy is used by many cheaters and shows the other cheaters if the zone or the match is open or closed to cheats.
