How to Get a USB Controller to Work for the 360

Microsoft's Xbox 360 video game console was released to the public in late 2005. Since then two types of Xbox 360 controllers have been available, wired and wireless. At the initial release, wired USB controllers were the norm due to the high price for the wireless controllers. Since then however, the prices on wireless controllers have fallen one is now included with most Xbox 360 consoles. If you have an older wired Xbox 360 controller, you can still use it with any version of the Xbox 360.

Instructions

    • 1

      Turn off your Xbox 360.

    • 2

Plug the USB cord connected to your wired Xbox 360 controller into the front of your Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 USB ports are located at the bottom of the console under the on/off button.

    • 3

Press and hold the main Xbox 360 button on your controller -- the big button in the middle with the X through it -- until it illuminates. Your wired controller and Xbox 360 will now turn on and you can use the wired controller as you would any other.
