How to Fix My Bad Xbox Network Adapter

The network adapter of an Xbox gaming system is an external device used to allow for a wireless connection between a Wi-Fi network and the Xbox console. If you cannot connect to a Wi-Fi network, there may be something wrong with your adapter. Some common problems you might encounter with your adapter are a loss of connection in the actual wiring of the adapter or confusion in the connection ports in the Xbox console. Both are easily fixed in just a few minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the adapter from the Xbox and lay it on a table with the light facing upward. Lift the adapter up and gently rap it on the table three or four times.

    • 2

Run the point of a razor blade along the seam where the front and back pieces of the adapter meet. Gently pry the pieces apart to expose the insides and take the circuit board out.

    • 3

Turn the circuit board over so you can see where the USB cable connects to it. Push the cable end into circuit board until it is firmly connected.

    • 4

Close the case again and press the sides together until they snap into place.

    • 5

Plug it into the front of the Xbox instead of the back and wait for it to turn green. Unplug the adapter again and return it to the back port.
