After turning on your Xbox 360 console, your display may show an error message that reads "E74. System Error. Contact Xbox Customer Support." This error message indicates a "hardware failure" according to Microsoft. The lower-right quadrant of the Xbox's power button may flash red when the console displays the E74 error. Because of the prevalence and seriousness of the E74 error, Microsoft covers the E74 error in its three-year extended warranty, which also protects against the well-known "Red Ring of Death" (RRoD), or three flashing red lights error.
