Power off your TV before making any connections or installing your Xbox 360.
Connect the Xbox 360 composite, component or HDMI cable to the appropriate port on the back of the Xbox 360. HDMI cables connect to the console's HDMI port while composite and component cables connect to the console's A/V port.
Connect the other end of the composite, component or HDMI cable to the appropriate input on the back of your display. If connecting composite or component cables, plug the colored cables into their respective inputs. HDMI cables plug into an HDMI input.

Plug the Xbox 360 power supply into a working wall outlet, power strip or surge protector.
Connect the Xbox 360 HDD (hard drive) to older models of the Xbox 360 by lining the back of the hard drive against the back of the hard-drive bay on the top of the console at an angle and pushing it down until it clicks and locks into place. New, slim models of the Xbox 360 have a built-in hard drive that requires no installation.
Press the power button on the Xbox 360 to turn on the console.
Press the "Source" or "Input" button on your display to correspond to the type of cable used to connect to the Xbox 360 (composite A/V, component A/V or HDMI).
Connect wired controllers directly to the USB ports on the front of the console. Sync wireless controllers to the console by pressing the "Sync" button on the front of the Xbox 360 and then pressing the "Sync" button on the top of the wireless controller.
