How to Expand the Xbox Hard Drive

The Xbox 360 comes with a large hard drive for storing movies, music, game demos and pictures, but eventually, it runs out of space. Instead of deleting content to make room for more, an additional 250 GB hard drive may be installed. There is no need to open the console's case to access the hard drive, making it simple to put in a new one. The official Microsoft Xbox 360 hard drive can be inserted using a brief installation process.

  Remove the original Xbox 360 hard drive by pressing down on its tab, then lifting it out of the console.

  Place the new hard drive over the console with the narrow end pointing toward the front of the console and the wide end facing towards the back.

  Insert the hard drive into the console so that the ridge on the back of the hard drive slips beneath the lip of the hard drive bay.

  Push the front of the hard drive down gently until it clicks, indicating that it is locked in place.
