Connect Your Xbox 360 Wirelessly
Power on the wireless router that the computer you want to connect to typically uses. Allow it to load and use your computer to make sure that the connection is available and strong.
Plug the wireless Xbox 360 adapter into the rear of the console. Make sure that you follow all manufacturer instructions to ensure a proper connection. Power on the console and scroll up or down to find the "My Xbox" row. Scroll to the far right of the row and select the "System Settings" button labeled with a picture of the Xbox console and a controller.
Select the "Network Settings" button to open the network options screen. Choose "Configure Network" and select "Wireless Mode" under the "Basic Settings" tab. This will open configuration options and allow you to choose the network you wish to use.
Choose the "Scan for Networks" option and allow the console to perform a full scan for any available networks or Wi-Fi access points. Find your network name and select it from the list of available access points. Enter any prompted passwords to grant your console permission to use the network connection and hit "Done."
Test the connection by returning to the "Network Settings" section and selecting "Test Xbox LIVE Connection." If the test is successful, your console will have access to the Internet and your home network. You can now begin using Windows Media Player on your Xbox 360.
Connect Your Xbox 360 Directly
Situate your router, computer, Xbox 360 console and TV in a location close to one another that allows you access to all four items and a comfortable place to use the setup. Power on the router and computer and make sure your access point is working.
Plug the Ethernet cable into one of the ports on the router and plug the other end into the Ethernet port on the rear of the Xbox 360 console. Make sure that the cable clips are facing the right direction and that each clip locks into its port firmly.
Power on the Xbox 360 and scroll up or down until you find the "My Xbox" row. Scroll to the far right and select the "System Settings" button to begin your connection. Select "Network Settings" and choose "Configure Network."
Choose your named network (it should be the only one), and enter any prompted passwords to add your Xbox to the network. You can now use Windows Media Player functions and share an Internet connection with the computer.
