How to Hardwire an XBox

"Hardwiring" a device refers to connecting it to a network using a physical medium, such as an Ethernet cable. Both the Xbox and Xbox 360 consoles come with a Network Interface Card (NIC) already built into the system; all users need to do is connect their respective consoles to a network device with Internet access. This will enable either Xbox to connect to Xbox Live and interact with other players.

     Connect an Ethernet cable to either your router or modem.

     Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable into the back of your Xbox console.
