How to Load Games Onto the Xbox 360

Games for the Microsoft Xbox 360 video game console are stored on DVDs. Although DVDs provide a large amount of storage space, DVDs have a few significant downsides. Most notably, DVDS can be slow to load when playing games and can become scratched, rendering the game discs unplayable. In order to negate these potential drawbacks, Microsoft allows gamers to load Xbox 360 games directly onto the system's hard drive.

Instructions

    • 1

Select the game that you want to load onto the Xbox 360 and insert it into the system.

    • 2

Highlight the game on the Xbox 360's main menu. The game will be listed as the first option in the "My Xbox" portion of the main system menu.

    • 3

Press and release the yellow "Y" button to open the game information screen.

    • 4

Use the green "A" button to select the "Install to Hard Drive" option. The installation process will begin immediately. The game is fully loaded onto the Xbox 360 once the progress meter shows "100%."

    • 5

Press the red "B" button to exit the installation menu. The installed game can be played immediately.
