How to Sync Up an XBox 360 Wireless Remote

The Xbox 360 console uses both wired controllers and battery-powered wireless remote controllers. You can connect up to four controllers to the Xbox 360 at one time, but first you must sync each wireless controller to the console. After the initial set-up process, each synced controller will play games on your console with just the touch of a button.

  Press the oval-shaped button on the battery pack on the back of your Xbox 360 wireless controller to remove the cover. Insert two "AA" batteries, then replace the cover.

  Press and hold in the guide button in the center of your wireless controller until a green light appears. Press the power button on your Xbox 360 console.

  Press the small round connect button located to the right of the slot for Memory Unit B on the front of your Xbox 360 console.

  Press the connect button located between the two shoulder or bumper buttons on the top edge of your Xbox 360 controller no more than 20 seconds after you pressed the console's connect button in Step 3.

  Wait for the lights to stop blinking on both the controller and the console. Use your controller as normal once the syncing process is complete.
